Sunday, March 15th, 2009Petrol tank supports
Monday, March 2nd, 2009I removed the old petrol tank mounts. Took a number of hard hammer hits before one end came off. Both other ends needed cutting off, so the weld can’t have been that bad!
I got some angle iron (£5 for two metres) and cut this down to size with the grinder and the cutting wheel. Cut the metal oversized to allow a lip on be welded onto the chassis. This will give so much more strength and means the weight of the full tank is no longer a concern!
I still need to drill the brackets for holes and paint the new metalwork.
Really happy with the results. So much better than it was. Cost me less than a £5 too. Cha ching.
Brakes…
Friday, February 13th, 2009Along with the new brake lines I intend to bend and fit (with my new bender) I’ll have to also fashion these ends.
New petrol tank arrives!
Monday, February 9th, 2009Joe Hilton (Welderman on locostbuilders ) has fabricated me a new petrol tank from aluminium. It looks fantastic and should provide me with a decent capacity too. It’s been baffled and also Joe’s fitted my fuel sender too.
The fuel sender is from Green Gauges and was a painful £42 but it does guarantee working with my clocks.
Picture of Rupert and the new tank….
Sunday’s Progress
Sunday, February 8th, 2009This afternoon I’ve removed the front loom (headlights, fan, horn and thermostat)
Sanded the paint and glue from both driver and passenger floor sections.
Tackled the rear axle but not done much on this.
- Front loom now removed
- Driver well cleaned up
- Rust again on side wall
- Tear in side wall

My first KC improvements
Sunday, November 9th, 2008After getting KC through an MOT I started to pimp him up. First call to change the amber lenses to clear. Front lenses are L Drover and rears are Mini Classics.
Ebay purchase - about £10 including the amber bulbs for the indicators. Cha Ching. MUCH better look…
